Meet the Owner

Who is Olori?

Se alaafia ni (Is peace with you)?

My name is Olori and I am the owner of Orisa House Botanica, located inside Patapsco Flea Market here in Baltimore, MD.  "Orisa House" came to me in a vision some years later, after I had to close my 1st botanica (Ile Oya Botanica) many years ago due to unforeseen circumstances that were out of my control.

As an Egungun (ancestral) priestess initiated in Oyotunji Afrikan Village in 1998, Olorisa (Orisa) priestess crowned to Oya in Dahomey (Benin Republic) in 1999, initiated to Sango in 2000 (in Dahomey), and an Iyanifa (female Ifa initiate), initiated in California in 2014, I'm not new to this but true to this with respect to Isese Agbaye (traditional Ifa'Orisa worship). Last but definitely not least, I am also a QUEEN (La Reine), coronated & verified in Dahomey since 2003. So suffice it to say, with my many years of practice, initiations, training, and travel throughout West Afrika,  I think I know a thing or two about Afrikan spirituality.

As a crowned child of Oya & Sango, it has been a dream of mine to have a business helping people who are either curious about ATRs (Afrikan traditional religions) or are ardent practitioners. Whether you practice Isese (like myself) or another ATR, earth based belief system or an Abrahamic religion, my botanica may have what you need for your practice.

Each week, we have new products and are constantly showcasing local and Black vendors who specialize in spiritual items. All of my products are ethically sourced and we are always evolving. We pride ourselves on helping those who are new to Afrikan spirituality, or who are just trying to find their way "spiritually" on their path/journey however that may look like to them.  So if you are ever in Baltimore and want to support a small Black owned, woman-ran business, please come through!

To my son, I am MOM

To my gochildren, I am IYA

and to the rest of the world...

I am,

        Olori Oyadele Ogunsina
